May Allah make it easy for you to attain your degrees with flying colours. InshAllah you will use the knowledge you attain to benefit the ummah, and mankind in general. We often forget the benefits of going to university or college to attain our degrees and/or diplomas. Yes, ofcourse there's getting a high paying job, or having a high status in society. However, we forget that our ability to attain this knowledge comes from the permission of Allah and Allah will ask us on the day of judgement how we used this knowledge. We have immense power to use the knowledge we attain regardless of what kind of degree you have to help the ummah and mankind. At the same time we must make sure that we attain sound Islamic knowledge in order to spread the message of Islam as we will be asked about this on the day of Judgement also. Allah has given us the power to spread otherwise He wouldn't ask us about it on the day of Judgement.

The best study tips to help you ace exams

Exams—they can stress even the most organized of students. But they don't have to. With a little preparation, even the most scatterbrained student can ace exams. The trick is to start early. That's why we are talking exams NOW.
The secret to top-notch exam prep?
START EARLY!
These are the top ten things that you need to know to Ace exams!

Give yourself plenty of time.
Cramming doesn't work. It just doesn't. When you start to study weeks ahead you have plenty of time to read everything. It also gives you time to ask questions about anything you don't fully understand.

Use an Agenda.
Write your study time in your agenda, even if it's only 20 minutes a night. An agenda is one of the best organizational tools you have to help you prepare for your exams.

Set up a study stadium.
Okay, it doesn't have to be an actual stadium—just an area where you can leave your notes, your pencils, and your dictionary. Someplace where you are comfortable and where there is little distraction—that means no TV or blaring music!

Look at the big picture.
How many pages in total do you have to study? How much time? If you have 50 pages to cover in 10 weeks, then that is only 1page a night on weekdays, with weekends off. That's not so bad! You can even write down what pages to study on what night.

Study a little bit every night.
When you start early enough you can easily avoid the stress and anxiety of pulling an all-nighter. And, you can move at a steadier pace—20 minutes a night is easier to handle than 7 hours the night before. By the week before the exam you'll have read everything at least once and you'll be prepared!

Make your own notes.
Look at the chapter or unit or section. What are the titles, heading and subheadings? Are there any bolded words? Write these down. These are key words, and they are great indicators to help you know what the material is about.

Put it in your own words.
This is known a paraphrasing and it's a great technique to help you really understand the material. Memorization and rote repetition? That's for robots? You need to understand the material to succeed!

Cover, recite and check.
But how do you paraphrase? It's as easy as reading over a page, a paragraph, or a sentence, then covering it up, and saying it back in your own words!

Don't study the stuff you know well.
Start with the most challenging sections and move on from there. There is no point studying material that you are confident you know. A quick review to make sure you remember everything is enough.

Make classroom time active learning time.
The best study tip is one that doesn't even involve studying, but happens way before studying—in the classroom. The secret to easy studying is to be an active learner in the classroom. Raise your hand. Ask questions. Participate in discussions. Don't just sit and wait for the teacher to teach you, get involved in learning!

The more responsibility you take for your education, the easier learning— and studying—will be.

CHARITY for the Ottawa Family:
On the evening of Monday March 31st a Muslim Somali family in Ottawa, lost their home in a fire. There were 7 children in the family, and as the mother tried to round them up to escape, the youngest became confused and ran in the opposite direction, into the fire. He did not make it out of the fire, he was 2 and a half years old (named Khalid). The father was at work, checked in on his family half an hour before the fire, and came home to find his house burned to the ground.

It was an electrical fire and was not caused by any mistake on the family's part.
Everything in the house was lost!

The children's names, ages are:

Khatra Ali -11 year old girl

Hawa Ali- 9 year old girl

Update on the Khalid Ali family from a site that has been put up for them:

Alhumdulillaah, the family is doing very well. Their new place is almost completely set up and had tremendous support from the communities. There has been a huge outpouring of help - from money to materials and even food. We've collected more than $14,000 online alhamdulillah.
All that is left for us to do is pray for their Iman, pray that Allaah grants them strength to deal with the loss of their baby, and reunite them all with baby Khalid in Jannah al-Firdous. Ameen!
And Allaah knows best.
